I landed on a video about Chinese metaphysics this week, and the master spoke about the importance — I mean the utmost importance — of this concept to keep balance, luck, and abundance flowing high in a home.

In Western terms, I've come to understand that it was:
happy wife, happy life.

That everything should be done to ensure the woman (or the person holding the feminine energy in the home) feels as good as she possibly can. That she must treat herself to every beauty ritual and garment she needs, to support her beauty in whatever form it desires to take.

Because the woman is considered the heart of the space. She harmonizes, magnetizes, nourishes. She expands what surrounds her. Her emotional field influences the entire home.

If she feels beautiful, she magnetizes beauty and refinement into the space.
If she feels supported, she blossoms, and with her, abundance follows.
Her self-care rituals are acts that "open portals for wealth".

And so I thought…
Mmm.
Interesting.

I thought of all the times I heard women feel bad for simply getting their nails done, or going to the hair salon.
I thought of all the times I saw my mother feeling guilty for buying herself a beautiful dress.
I thought of a friend who gave up all her beauty rituals during pregnancy.
And I thought of the women still wearing worn-out panties and bras, believing they don’t deserve better.

So I grabbed a pen and wrote down all the things I will no longer apologize for, things that once felt vain, but now I know… they are sacred.
They are magnetic. They are wealth-expanding:

• I will stop apologizing for wanting slow mornings.
• I will stop apologizing for wanting professional pedicures.
• I will stop apologizing for treating myself to beautiful garments.

I’m not ashamed of needing beauty, rest, or romance to feel human. I’m ashamed we were taught not to.

Because I’ve come to realize,
some of these desires are what make me feel alive, not selfish.

What are yours?
